The Bounce Back Film Campaign: EXTENDED

Last month, I was part of a highly successful campaign ran by a very motivated and driven group of bloggers, to help promote and raise funds to make a film by Shemar Moore called The Bounce Back.  The campaign was so successful, Indiegogo, extended the fundraising period for another week.  I am honored to be a part of this group of dynamic, powerful women who proved that women are a force to be reckoned with.

LOS ANGELES – July 28, 2013- In the ever changing world of film production and film financing, online crowd-funding is still rare but becoming more prominent. The latest success story in this new media fund raising forum is the film “The Bounce Back” starring Actor Shemar Moore (“Criminal Minds”). 

The film reached and exceeded its goal of $500,000 on Sunday with still 7 days left making it the #4 MOST FUNDED FILMS OF ALL TIME USING CROWDFUNDING.  (as of July 28, 2013)

1. Veronica Mars Film - Kickstarter - $5.7M - campaign ended 91,585 funders

2. Wish I Were Here - Zach Braff - Kickstarter $3.1 M - campaign ended - 46,520 funders

3. Road Hard – Adam Corrolla – FundAnything $837,5K (campaign still running) – 8,571 funders

4. The Bounce Back Film – Indiegogo - $547.1K (campaign still running) - 2980 funders

The Bounce Back used a unique approach to reach its audience by turning to social media and online media influencers to spread their message. They recruited 80 bloggers, part of the Entertainment New Media Network, to help their team do outreach through online channels throughout the campaign. “Mr. Moore was relatively new to social media and didn’t have much of an online presence. He’s one of the most popular (and loved) male actors on television but without online reach, many of his fans would not have known about this rare opportunity to partner with him on this project,” stated Erica I. Pena-Vest, Founder of Entertainment New Media Network,” Mr. Moore and the uniqueness of this project are why fans and supporters showed up to help fund this film.  We just told them where to find it”. 

           

Many of the film’s 2000+ contributors are loyal fans of Shemar Moore’s.  The Bounce Back Indiegogo campaign offers perks from a phone call from Mr. Moore to being an extra on set.

This gorgeous man, dubbed "Big Sexy" by me and my friends, is Mr. Shemar Moore - is a talented actor best known for his role as Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds.  He will soon be adding "Executive Producer" to his long list of accomplishments, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to help promote his newest project, "The Bounce Back."

""The Bounce Back" is a heartfelt romantic comedy about finding the courage to love after love has let you down.

When I read “The Bounce Back” - that very same issue was at the core of the script and the character, Matthew Taylor. I saw a lot of myself in Matthew, although I've never written a book (but I’m thinking about it now, hint, hint). I felt a kindred spirit to what Matthew was going through and my own life. Matthew loses his wife, his first love and after a short recovery creates a best selling book and a system of survival in order to shield himself from the pain.  He throws himself into a year long speaking tour.
That system of survival; his book and speaking tour, keeps him from falling in love again when he meets the perfect girl, the beautiful and zany Kristin Moreland. Matthew realizes that he has to renounce his book and the world he has created around it in order to take the big unknown plunge of letting himself fall in love again.

I think there is a wonderful poetry to that, the idea of risking it all for love. And I feel, in my heart, that is why we’re here on this planet. To love. After I put down the screenplay, “The Bounce Back,” I knew I had to make this movie simply because I believe in love all the way down to the fabric of my being.
